On March 27th, the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) held the first BRICS Intellectual Property Conference in Chengdu. SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu attended the conference and delivered a speech. Shen Changyu hoped that the five intellectual property offices, intellectual property circles, and industrial community of BRICS can continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and jointly make new and greater contributions to BRICS intellectual property cooperation. Governor of Sichuan Province Yin Li attended the conference and delivered a welcome speech.
Shen Changyu pointed out that through five-year cooperation, the cooperation mechanism of BRICS intellectual property offices has become an important platform for BRICS to achieve consensus in IP, a significant represent of emerging market countries in IP circle, and a major force to strengthen IP international cooperation, which has made great contributions to the IP development of BRICS countries. He also said that the SIPO has attached great importance to the cooperation with BRICS partners. He hoped that the conference will be a new beginning for further exchanges and cooperation among the five intellectual property offices, intellectual property circles, and industrial community of BRICS. The five countries should consolidate and develop the traditional and friendly cooperation relations, keep improving the cooperation level and quality, enrich the cooperation contents and fields, build more extensive and transparent partnerships, so as to make more major progress in IP cooperation among the BRICS countries.
Shen Changyu also introduced the latest development of SIPO. He pointed out that in recent years, SIPO has focused on advocating innovative culture and strengthening the creation, protection, and utilization of intellectual property, and improved the quality, utilization efficiency, protection, and management of intellectual property in all respects. SIPO will continue to be active and open in the joint efforts of BRICS to promote the development and advancement of the global intellectual property industry and provide better services for IP users and the public.
Mr. Luiz Otávio Pimentel, President of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil (INPI), Mr. Grigory Ivliev, Director General of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property of Russian Federation (ROSPATENT), Mr. Om Prakash Gupta, Controller General of the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks of India (CGPDTM), and Mr. Rory Voller, Commissioner of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission of South Africa (CIPC), attended the conference and introduced the latest development of their offices.
Deputy Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Wang Binying attended the conference and introduced the latest progress of WIPO.

At the meeting, the heads of the five offices jointly announced the launch of the BRICS Intellectual Property Cooperation Website. Led and developed by SIPO, the website will timely release cooperative activities among the five BRICS IP offices, share the intellectual property information of five countries, form a unified public service platform among five offices, and improve the openness and transparency.
