BARCELONA, Spain, Feb 27, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Fixmo, the mobile risk management (MRM) company, today announced a partnership with Squadra Technologies which will enable Fixmo MRM(TM) to provide organizations with an extended view into removable media file transfer activity on mobile devices, further enhancing its ability to protect corporate data and produce auditable compliance reports across mobility deployments.
The Squadra Technologies secRMM software monitors desktop and laptop computers to track files that are copied onto Removable Mass Media (RMM) devices including USB keys, smartphones or tablets. The integration of secRMM with Fixmo MRM will enable organizations to track which corporate files have been transferred over USB to which mobile devices and produce comprehensive reports and analytics from within the Fixmo Sentinel management server. Fixmo and Squadra Technologies will also enable custom IT policies to restrict confidential or classified documents from being transferred to mobile devices over USB and stored in local memory or on Micro SD cards.
“Government agencies and regulated enterprises are under mounting pressure to prevent corporate data leakage via mobile devices, and to ensure they can prove compliance with privacy regulations,” said Daniel Ford, Chief Security Officer at Fixmo. “In partnering with Squadra Technologies, we are offering our customers another important tool as part of the Fixmo MRM platform to monitor and protect their corporate data and maintain compliance across their mobility deployment.”
The integration of secRMM with Fixmo MRM will enable organizations to document when a file is transferred onto a smartphone or tablet, correlate that event to an individual device user, take actions to protect corporate data if necessary and produce auditable compliance reports on the back-end. Fixmo MRM will also enable organizations to detect the transfer of highly sensitive documents onto smartphones or tablets and take immediate action based on policies pre-defined by the IT department to lock or wipe the device, or notify the security team if the user is violating corporate policies. The joint solution can also monitor potentially malicious files that include executable content and enable immediate actions to protect mobile devices and corporate network assets.
“External hard drives, USB sticks and smartphones are excellent tools for boosting productivity, but they can also create a security hole for those looking to take advantage of the technology,” said Angela Furgal, Director of Business Development at Squadra Technologies. “Our secRMM software helps organizations protect themselves against those risks, and as the world continues to become more mobile, this partnership with Fixmo is a natural fit.”
Fixmo will be demonstrating Fixmo MRM and its suite of mobile risk management products at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 27th until March 2nd at booth #2A97 (Hall 2).
